Clinical Effect of Reproterol . HCI(Broncard^(¢ç)) on Bronchial Asthma

Abstract
Reproterol(Broncard¢ç), a monomolecular combination of catecholamine and theophylline, was evaluated for bronchodilatory and side effects in 29 patients with bronchial asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. A statistically significant bronchodilatory effect was obtained in an hour with 20mg oral dose and the response was the predominant volume response(¥ÄFEV1/¥ÄFVCAfter ingestion of the preparation for at least 7 days in doses of ¢¥3x20 mg/day, adverse reactions generally expected from sympathomimetic stimulation, i.e., tremor, palpitation, dizziness, restlessness, etc. occurred in some patients and one case showed slight elevation of serum alanine aminotransferase.
